Try something new for 30 days

Free Spirit is painted on some kind of cardboard the size of 6"x8" or 15x20cm. Price is 30$ including p&p. If you're interested e-mail me and I'll send you an invoice through PayPal.

So, I watched THIS video over at TED and I was really inspired to give it a go. The problem is, I tried to do a list of something new I would like to try for 30 days and I only came up with 5 things. Two of them I stole from this Matt guy. :)

The first challenge I started on Wednesday and I decided to make art and film myself every day for 30 days. These are not going to be quality videos because I'm doing it on my computer desk and the lighting is terrible but it's the only way that I feel comfortable enough to go all the way through it.

I'll be posting the videos on my YouTube channel so go on and subscribe if you don't want to miss them. And I'll probably post the paintings on my FB page as I make them.

If you took up a challenge to try something new for 30 days, what would you do? I need ideas, people. Please share. :)

  2. Your video is wonderful- I love seeing how she came to be- the black around her creates such a great impact. Challenge for 30 days? hmmm, writing a letter of gratitude to someone each day and mailing it?

  4. So many possibilities. I think putting away the laundry after I take it out of the dryer would be a big one for me.....haha!

  6. Great idea, Natasha May! Now you have been thinking. LOVED Cameron's answer .. lol. Your video was great - throughly enjoyed - and now looking forward to more. Perhaps doing a little rak of art each day and leaving it somewhere unexpected would be fun. Trouble is, I always want to hang around and see how the person who finds it reacts. Not productive use of time... ha ha. xoDonna

  7. Lovely idea and lovely art work. I'd love to make videos of my art in progress too - I just can't figure out how to do it or what kind of camera to use.

  16. Great, not to mention ambitious idea! Good luck withe filming. I have to say, this woman's hair is fabulous. It's a painting within a painting, and that makes for a very interesting piece.

  19. Love this painting, and it was really great to see you paint it from start to finish.

I suppose I could try being nice to my husband every day for 30 days...oh, who am I kidding? I probably wouldn't last 30 minutes.

  20. The videos are great! I love that idea of filming yourself for 30 days. I always love watching other artists work and how they go about a painting. Your process looks like a lot of fun. Off the top of my head, I can't think of what I would do for a 30 day challenge other than maybe try and paint every day - which would be a challenge as life seems to get in the way of that. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!

I would concentrate on a different pose each day. Maybe I should do that and see what happens.

  26. great video and great free sprit lady! I really really like this! I am in awe of all you do. If I could do anything for 30 days it would be to make art. SImple. It just doesn't get to happen. Feeding all my kids is hard enough! haha.

  29. beautiful colours! Love the painting. I just watched a video of an artist creating a GORGEOUS sunflower painting with a palette knife. Now I want to try it out. Only I think you have to use oils for that and I hate oils... smell and all. Sigh. Maybe outside in the summer???

    Have a great day!
