# 27-28 Ladies in corsets

I'm doing a lot of random lists lately, aren't I? :)) I suspect I'll be doing more of them, if I plan to post every day for Blogtoberfest in October.:) Here we go:
  • I really should be filming my new workshop but the weather went sour and I can't do one part that I have to do outside. Which is basically the beginning part so I can't do the rest until I do this.
  • It will be called: "Angels and Mermaids - mixed media paper dolls on spray painted backgrounds" What do you think of the name?
  •  On Sunday I got off the computer to watch TV in a very, very long time. I stumbled upon Guy Code. OMG! I almost pissed myself laughing. :))
  • Also, I watched a documentary on jelly fish that might kill you. WTF? How come nobody came up with the antidote already? The woman was in pain for 2 weeks! Another reason the ocean will never see me again unless it has crystal clear waters and no seaweed.
P.S. Did you enter Thursday's giveaway? No? Well, what are you waiting for? It doesn't cost you anything. :)) You can win 25$ Amazon Gift Card!

Life on Hold Blast $25 Amazon Gift Card Giveaway

Yes! Another giveaway!

Life on Hold by Beverly Stowe McClure

A paper found.

A secret revealed.

A girl's life changed forever.

Myra Gibson's life is a lie. For sixteen years her parents have kept their secret, but the adoption paper she discovers while cleaning the guest house tells the truth. As the past and present collide, Myra finally stands up for herself and begins a journey she may regret.

Reviews:

"All I can say is wow! Beverly Stowe McClure knocked this one out of the ballpark. The story of Myra and her search for the truth touched upon one of the fundamental needs of all children (and teens): the need for a father in their lives. ... The school librarian at the middle school where I teach is already looking into buying a copy for the school library. It's that good."

~Award Winning Author Darby Karchut- http://darbykarchut.blogspot.com

"Beverly did an awesome job with this book. Myra's character and the decisions she make throughout the book are believable. Her friends, family and love interest, Jeremy, are all characters that the readers can relate to."

~Peggy Tibbetts - http://www.peggytibbetts.net/

About the Author:

When Beverly Stowe McClure was a child she hated to read. Even though her eighth grade teacher sent her poem “Stars” to the National High School Poetry Association, and it was published in Young America Sings, an anthology of Texas high school poetry, she hated to write. In spite of her rocky relationship with books, she attended Midwestern State University, where she read too many books to count, and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. She taught in elementary school for twenty-two years. Reading Dr. Seuss to her sons and Newbery winners to her students made Beverly realize what she’d been missing: Reading was fun.

Now, she reads most every day. She also writes. Her articles for children’s magazines, many of them about activities her classes did in school, have been published in leading children‘s magazines. One article was reprinted in a Scott Foresman Anthology, Grades PK/K. Her doggie story appeared in a Chicken Soup for the Soul book.

Beverly’s five novels for teens and tweens are published by small Indie Publishers. Her YA historical novel, Caves, Cannons, and Crinolines, is a finalist in the 2011 Next Generation Indie Book Awards, Novella Division. The book also is a finalist in Dan Poynter’s Global eBook Awards, Teen Fiction, and is an Honor Award Winner in the Reader's Favorite Book Award Contest, YA Category, as well as an Honor Winner in the Eric Hoffer Book Awards, YA Category.  Listen to the Ghost was a finalist in the 2003 Dream Realm Awards. Her first picture book came out in June 2011. Her latest book, Life on Hold, is a YA contemporary novel. She lives in the country with her husband, two cats, and a variety of wild critters that come to visit.

# 25-26 Crooked haired Angels

This rambling has absolutely nothing to do with the angels but it's what came to my mind when I started writing the post. :))

If you have pets or kids, you're gonna understand this. You know how sometimes you catch yourself watching your pets or kids play and you just smile uncontrollably, enjoying every second?

And I always catch myself thinking, how I could never be one of those people who needs to have their houses spotlessly clean and furniture intact.

I mean, I even buy furniture according to my pets. When I was buying my couch I was deciding between two materials. The one which won't show scratches but there will be tons of hair on it. And the one that will be easy to clean cat hair off of but the scratches will be more visible.

Color doesn't matter to me because I have a white cat and a black cat and everything in between so the pet hair will show no matter which color furniture I choose.

You won't ever catch me screaming at my pets because they're sharpening their claws on my couch or climbing on the furniture or running around the house barely making the corner and making those cartoonish claw sounds because they can't get a grip. :)

So, yeah. I enjoy watching my pets play more than I care for the furniture being intact. And it's less stressful. Do you really think you could teach 7 cats and 2 dogs not to mess up your house?

There's always a possibility that I'm just lazy. :))

# 20-21 Good Girl, Bad Girl

Hey guys! One of my cats spilled my tee on my keyboard and the letter "y" is not working. :)) I have to copy paste it each time. It's hilarious! :)

Anyway. I received a blog award from BIKBIK AND RORO. Thanks so much! Award involves sharing 11 things about yourself, answering 11 questions posted by the giver and then nominating 11 blogs.

I post random things about me all the time so go check it out HERE.

Here are her questions and my answers:

1. What do you spend the most money on?
Cat and dog food and veterinarian bills.
2. What is your least favorite food?
Meat. I'm a vegetarian.
3. Where would you like to live?
Somewhere warm, most likely Australia.
4. The last time you said "I love you" was... ?
I'm really bad at saying it but I think it was this week. Not sure though. :)
5. Do you believe in reincarnation, and if so, what do you think you'd come back as?
I believe we are souls that choose to be on this Earth.  If I chose to come back again, I would probably be a cat in a responsible and loving household or Brad Pitt's wife. :))
6. The last thing you do at night is... ?
Brush my teeth.
7. What is one of your greatest achievements?
They always seem great when you're struggling to make them true. :) Looking back though, to have the courage to make a living as an artist.
8. Who was your first celebrity crush?
It might have been John Travolta from Grease but there probably was someone before him I just don't remember.
9. What are you reading now, and is it any good?
I'm reading Fated Dreams by Christina Smith and it's awesome. :)
10. You think insects are... ?
Fine unless they decide to crawl on me. Then they're dead. :)
11. What's your idea of a perfect breakfast?
Fruit and vegie smoothie.

Now, I know some of you don't like awards that make you do stuff and it's always a struggle to nominate just a certain number but here we go. Feel free to accept it or not. You won't hurt my feelings.:)
Here are my questions for you:
  1. If you were born the opposite sex, what would your parents name you?
  2. If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
  3. If you needed a ride and there were two cars willing to give you a ride. One would be Donald Trump in a Rolls Royce and the other would be your celebrity crush in a beat up Sedan. You'll have to drive by your ex-boyfriend's place who broke your heart a couple of weeks ago and he would be standing outside. Who would you pick?
  4. Take the color of your socks, your middle name and the last thing you ate. What's your rock star band called? :)
  5. Who's your favorite book character?
  6. Comedy, drama or horror movie? Western, action or sci-fi?
  7. How would your best friend describe you in one word?
  8. PC or Mac?
  9. Will you get laid tonight? :)
  10. Choose one or two. Dogs or cats or birds or reptiles or fish or insects?
  11. What do you think will happen on Dec. 21, 2012?
Yeah! I can't wait to read your answers. Whoever wants to play along, please do. Even if I didn't tag you but you were #12 for sure. :)

I saw this video posted on FB by Rhomany and thought it was amazing. :) Funny and true.

# 18-19 Superheros to the rescue

Sorry guys! I forgot to schedule the post for this morning and I had stuff to do until now. :) Anyway! Here it is.
Da randomness:
  • I don't like this paper I'm painting on. As you can see it has quite deep texture and it leaves white spots. Luckily I only have a couple of pieces still left so I won't have to worry about it any more. :)
  • We have this orange cat that comes to us from somewhere around the neighborhood and he terrorizes my mom's cats. If you could hear the voices that come out from fighting cats, you'd be calling the police that someone is skinning a baby alive. Horrible sounds.
  • Here's something you're dying to hear. :) I had a gynecologist appointment yesterday but couldn't go because there was something wrong with my health insurance. I'm sorting out that shit today.
  • I'm addicted to sour cream & onion flavored potato chips. Can you imagine my breath? :)) I always make sure to kiss my hubby so he can appreciate the experience. :)))
  • I have a surprise for you tomorrow. Make sure you come back to check it out. :)
  • Free Kindle e-books. You need to double check if they're still free before you "buy" them from Amazon.

# 15-17 Girls

This Life Book lesson came from the lovely Ady Almanza. Great to learn another way to mess around. :)

I just now realized the link to Life Book was broken on all my posts so I had to fix it. I think that meant you got a lot of old feed from me, if you're subscribed. :) Sorry about that.

# 13-14

Random list:
  • I do nothing but read every single day. It's addicting. I start with one e-book and it sucks me in so I have to read the whole series. And time just flies by. I'm up until 3 in the morning because I can't stop reading.
  • I'm listening to The Voice and The X factor while reading. :) Do you ever do that? I can't read in silence.
  • Awkward is one of my fave series right now. Surprisingly it has nothing to do with vampires and werewolves. Just plain awkward stuff from high school.
  • PayPal is still pissing me off. I still can't get the money from them. And this is a reason why I can't bring myself to start filming my new workshop because I can't keep piling virtual money  and paying taxes for the income I make with money I don't have.
  • It's gotten really, really cold here. Hope it warms up a bit. I'm not ready for winter yet.
  • Should I say something about the art? First one is a science teacher and the second one looks a little annoyed. She's probably having trouble with PayPal as well. :)

# 11-12 Ophelia

My version of Ophelia.

I'm sorry to start with a morbid thought today.

Even though I can't imagine feeling so low that I wouldn't want to wake up in the morning I don't judge the ones that do or try to commit suicide. I don't know what's it like to be in their skin and I don't want to pretend that I understand.

My great aunt was killed in a car crash last week because some lady decided to end her life by driving the opposite way on the highway.  It wasn't a mistake but a deliberate act of suicide.

What I don't understand is why she thought was ok to kill someone random in the process of ending her own life. Why couldn't she find a tree or a wall to crash into if she had a death wish?

I hope she found peace she was looking for.

# 8-10 Symbols in a painting

I attempted a mandala intuitive centering painting from Claudia Olivos’ lesson in Angels in my Studio class. It was a really enjoyable and peaceful process and lots of symbolism.

I haven't decided what color background, yet. I tried the black one in Photoshop. What do you think?

I'm not going to explain the symbolism because  there's just a whole lot of it and I'd probably loose you at first sentence. :) But there's nothing stopping me to just list them.
  • 11 sun rays
  • 9 butterflies
  • 3 angels
  • 3 hearts
  • cat
  • palm tree
  • ocean
  • curls/swirls
I will tell you what struck me fascinating. When I was drawing I wanted to draw a sun but it kind of didn't work out because I was seeing the painting set in a moonlight, so I attempted to draw a moon but only managed to put its reflection on the ocean's surface. The further I went the moon's reflection bothered me so I erased it and instead made sun rays. I didn't count them but there ended up 11 of them.

Here is symbolism for number 11:
"The 11 carries a vibrational frequency of balance. It represents male and female equality. It contains both sun energy and moon energy simultaneously yet holding them both in perspective separate-ness."

A whole lot of faces for 29 Faces. :) And a perfect fit for this week's Illustration Friday theme Imagination.

Did you hear about Cameron's Mermaid swap? You send her a mermaid between August 27th to September 21st 2012 and she'll send you one back. She's an awesome artist so you should check her out. :)

This mermaid above is the one I sent her. I'm excited to see which one I get in return. :)

And a couple of more mermaid faces for  29 Faces.

# 3-4 What I don't like about some books

Random stuff I don't like about some books:
  • Remember I told you about all those free e-books, right? Well, some really suck. :) But some are a good read. But it's amazing how many books remind me of Twilight. Like certain scenes and descriptions and people's re/actions. Authors should really stop doing that because it puts you off reading when you keep comparing.
  • And leading women in these books should really be better portrayed. Like smarter. :) It just pisses me off when they keep fuc*ing up. Seriously, who is that stupid? Ok, it happens once, you get over it but when it keeps repeating you kinda go like, someone should tell this bit*h to get a hold of herself. :) I understand it gives interest to the plot because the situation has to be fixed now but still. Sometimes I just want to slap them silly.
  • And why does everyone equate love with jealousy and possessiveness? At this moment I don't remember reading a single book where the lover didn't get all "fired up" because she/he was "mine".
  • Not to mention how easily everyone falls in love, moves in together and gets married. Oh, yeah! We, the readers, have been doing it all wrong with dating and getting to know each other for like years before even considering sharing closet space. Apparently it can be done in days.
  • And why is everyone a virgin? No, I'm serious. In every book we have a couple and one of them must be a virgin. It's ok, if they are teenagers but not ok when they are grown men and women. You can't sell me that bullshit especially when you go out of your way to describe the character unnaturally beautiful and everyone's wet dream. Of course they don't know it because apparently they haven't seen themselves in a mirror for the past decade at least.
  • Oh, oh. Listen, I have trouble with characters possessing supernatural hearing and sense of smell as it is. I mean, how is a girl supposed to go the bathroom or god forbid, fart when the boyfriend can hear mosquitoes sucking blood from 50 miles away? Doesn't anyone think about that? Then tell me, when you know everyone around you can hear and smell you like when you're in another town, why on earth do you go and have sex in the next room?
  • Let's not forget how everyone smells of flowers and cinnamon and spices. Really? I smell stinky sweat but your supernatural nose picks up flowers and spices? Come on!

Girls above have nothing to do with the books they are there so I can link to 29 Faces. :))

29 Faces in September #1-2

Because I'm obviously on some sort of creative kick I thought I should take advantage of it. :) I'm doing the 29 Faces again.

I'm not sure I'll post every day but I promise to draw/paint a face a day and I'll blog about it at least 3 times a week. :)

And I also decided to catch up with Life Book lessons and  Angels in my Studio class. Kylie Fowler is one of the teachers in both classes so here are the angels from both her lessons. :)
