• I'm 4 blog posts away from my 400th post. :)
• We've been having my nephew staying with us for the past 2 weeks. Teenage boys smell!
• How many secrets are there to successful blogging, successful business, being a successful artist, etc ___ (insert word in blank)? Seriously? Everyone is promising the next best thing to winning a lottery but when you pay them to reveal their secrets, it's always something to the account of ~ know your market, work your ass off and similar crap. We all know that! Where the f*uck is the secret you're promising everyone?
• Sorry! Just a momentary lapse of __ (insert word in blank). :) 
• I better go meditate. I'm doing the Deepak Chopra's 21 Day meditation challenge. I started late and I missed one day so that get's me to Day 9 today.
• Did I tell you I cut my hair and died it black? No? Well, I did.  It's really short, short. I figured I'd just cut it off since I had my hair in a ponytail all the time anyway.
• This is the last call for my Cotton Candy Girls Students to download the class material. I'll be closing down the class blog on August 1st, 2012.

Put a Wing on it

 

If you're getting bored with the stuff you paint or feel like everything you draw looks pretty much the same, then put a WING on it. :) Especially, if the thing is not supposed to have wings.

I love ATC's and art journals for that sole reason, to experiment on/in them. I don't feel like I'm ruining a painting or wasting supplies, if I do it on a smaller scale.

Star Trek Andorian

Yeah! For someone like me that isn't a Trekkie and apart from Spock and Data (which I first thought was Dana) I have no idea what they are called, it was really hard to come up with something on this topic that was suggested at The Butterfly Effect.

Well, I figured I can't go wrong with an alien so here is an Andorian male drinking coffee. Lol!

Here is some random stuff for you:

• I'm reading Lolita. I cannot believe I have not read it yet. Lolita being so famous and since I named one of my cats Lolita. :) I'm really impressed with the word play. Really, wow! And this from an author that had English as his third language.
• As much as I love Vampire stories I think Abraham Lincoln as a Vampire Hunter is a little too much, don't you think? It's a movie, if you have no idea what I'm talking about.:)
• My Mom's dog tried to eat a hedgehog last night. Don't know how it got in our yard since we're all fenced in. My Mom saved the hedgehog of course. :) It was huge.
• Do you have a gratitude journal? I try to write in it every day but sometimes time slips away.
• My Cotton Candy Girls class is closing in a week. If you're one of my students, make sure you've downloaded all course material.

I'm featured today on Paint Party Friday. How exciting is that? :) Go over there to check out my interview and to check on all the fabulous artists linking this week.

I love these Friday parties. I believe I've been a part of it from the beginning when it all started in March 2011. It was a big crowd then and it's an even bigger one today. We certainly have Kristin and Eva to thank for being such fabulous hostesses. :)

So, I joined a swap on ATC's for All and it was a challenge to doodle or draw something with a black pen on white background or white pen on black background with a pop of red.

The above Cotton Candy Girl was a part of the swap only without the words. I added "Paint Party Friday" digitally in Photoshop. The other two cards are below. You might recognize Dracula from before. :)

What to draw?

I have a fun challenge for you over at The Butterfly Effect.:) Because we all get bored from time to time and we don't know what to do, I have a couple of suggestions for you. I put together a list for you to choose from and to draw what the words say. 

These are examples of the challenge. The Gothic Angel, Oriental Mermaid and Zettilicious Zombie. :) I also made a video tutorial, so you definitely need to check that out. :)

Yes, zombie chicks have big perky boobs. :))

Watermelon Ice

Summer of Color 's ice cream flavor for this week is Watermelon Ice. Yes, it's supposed to be all red with black pits but it's not. Deal with it. :))

I made this journal page with spray paints and acrylics. It was really fun to do but I managed to ruin my mom's baking dish in the process. It didn't occur to me until the end that the paint will not wash off. :)

Remember the blind drawings of cats that I showed you in May? Well, here are the blind drawings of faces that I mentioned in that post. :) Aren't they fun?

I really love how each face is different and has it's own personality. I couldn't have done it with my eyes open. I might try this on a larger piece. These are all ATC's I've done for a swap.

Are you familiar with Tarot Cards? I'm not, so I can't share any wisdom with you. Instead, here is some randomness. :)

• After a long break, I started reading books again. It's one of those thing I do. I get all obsessed for a while then I stop for a while. :)
• Some shows on Discovery Channel and National Geographic are pretty educational. Just the other day I was talking with my friend, realizing we didn't learn much in school. I'm talking about the science stuff. All I can vaguely remember are theories and equations. TV makes it look so much more fun. :)
• Sunflower is my favorite flower and Peacock my favorite bird. What's yours?
• I saw this idea on FB and I thought it would be really cool if we bought some wooden children chairs and nailed them on the wall as shelves for cats to lounge on. Of course if you don't have cats, books will do. :)
• Thanks for all the help with the recipes on my previous post. :) I've found some great ones and I'm itching to try them.
• I've listed a couple of paintings in my Etsy shop. Go check it out!

Wild 'N Reckless Sherbet

Summer of Color 's ice cream flavor for this week is Wild 'N Reckless Sherbet. Wow! Did you see those colors?? Look!

Hey guys! Do you have any gluten-free, dairy-free and meat-free recipes to share? For meals not like cookies and stuff. There's plenty of that.:)

Honestly, as soon as I say meat-free, all that I can find are salads and roasted vegetables. And everybody substitutes meat with cheese and when I say dairy-free, I'm left with pretty much nothing.

Oh, I don't eat soya either so tofu doesn't work for me and seitan is made of wheat witch means gluten.

Are there any normal recipes out there? Normal meaning I don't have to fly to India or Brazil to find an ingredient to cook with. :) I'm getting bored with my vegetable rice and gluten free pasta.

Little Girl with a Pet Monster

Believe it or not, there is such a thing as a pet monster. One company is actually selling My Pet Monster to kids. Go figure!

What is the weirdest thing you've found in a shop or on the internet that someone out there is making money selling it?

Not those eBay weirdos that are selling their grandma's teeth but actual companies that are manufacturing that stuff. Like umbrellas for the dogs and hairy bearded beanies. :)

I'm really interested in doing a list of weird stuff to buy. :)

Strawberry Lemonade Punch Girl

Summer of Color 's ice cream flavor for this week is Strawberry Lemonade Punch. I made this journal page a while ago and I'm sharing it now cause it has the right colors. :)

Randomness for today:

• I think the movie scene is in a rut cause there are no good movies out there. The only one that I managed to watch in its entirety (just barely) was the Snow White and the Huntsman. Do you have any suggestions? Limit yourself to the year 2012. :))
• I read the Fifty Shades Trilogy last week. We all know why it's popular, right? It's not because of the outstanding story that's for sure.:)) Now I understand why some say that romance novels give women unrealistic expectations of how men are suppose to be and behave. I have not met a man, or heard of, so accomplished and perfect like Mr. Grey. Let's excuse his controlling tendencies and fetishes that our "oh so innocent and shy" heroin manages to "heal" so quickly even though years of therapy couldn't. Go figure. :) But that's ok. Just skip through that part and go straight to the juicy parts. :)
• Oh, those of you who read the 50 shades and Twilight might have noticed a similar scene in there. :) The one in the restaurant and the waitress. Right? Is that allowed? :)
• How's everyone dealing with the heat? I mean, it's so hot, we had to put our bird inside because it was too hot for him even in the shade. But I don't mind. I don't even remember last years summer because it was so cold, so I'm enjoying it now. Inside the house of course. :) It's nice and cool here.
• My muse went on vacation as well. I didn't even pick up a pencil last week let alone a brush. Now you know my secret.:) The stuff I showed you last week was done ages ago. Hope to get some painting done this week.:)
• And if you ask me  a question in the comments and you'd actually like an answer, would you please make sure you have your e-mail visible in your profile.  It's easier to reply that way, otherwise I tend to forget about it by the time I get to your blog. :)
