# 31 At last

Today is the last day of May and I'll point out two things. :)

1. It's the last day of 29 Faces in May. I've blogged a face every day. Sometimes more than one and I loved it. Well, not the whole time. :) I had a couple of days that were like, why am I doing this, but all in all it was a pretty good experience.

Thanks goes to our hostess Martha that ran the whole show and gave us a couple of challenges along the way. :) And of course it was fun checking out all the participants. I even found some new blogs to follow. :)

2. It's the last day of registration for my Cotton Candy Girls class. We're almost at the end of the class and I don't see the point of leaving the registration open after everything ends.

The class itself will be available until end of July, so there is plenty of time to catch up and the videos and PDF's are all downloadable so you can do it at a later date, if right now is not a good time for you. So, go ahead and sign up. :)

Oh wait! There's a third. :)

3. Since I was writing my yesterday's post at 3 in the morning I totally forgot that I was posting the last Goddess from 13 Goddesses challenge, so I forgot to give her a proper farewell. :)

Thanks goes to Simona, the challenge hostess, for picking out all 13 eras to choose from. Some were easier to pick out than others and some I like better than the others. :) But all in all a great experience. It was really fun learning about each goddess that got portrayed by the participants. :) You can find all 13 of mine HERE.

#30 Face and Goddess # 13

You won't believe it people but I painted this goddess at 2 a.m this morning. I know! WTF?! :))

I was working on my website the whole day yesterday. I got this reminder in the e-mail that my domain/web-hosting is about to expire. So I went to check it out.

First I had to get a new password because it's been so long since I logged in I forgot what it was. :) Then they wanted my PayPal account info and when I came all the way to the end after trying to figure out for about an hour how much money they want from me, the bill said 200$.

Are you crazy? I'm not giving you 200$ for something I can get for free! Jeez! I paid for my domain which was something like 15$ for a year but not for web-hosting. I have no idea what will happen when it expires in 10 days.

So, I used Wordpress for my web design and it drew me crazy. I would probably obtain a degree from web design sooner than figure out Wordpress. And to make it even worse I was hacked a couple of years ago and couldn't log in since then. :)

Justhost was so nice to offer me Weebly and it's way easier. And when I put everything together it dawned on me that since I'm not paying them for web-hosting it's very likely it will all be deleted. Well, now what?

Just in case, I registered with Weebly and got a sub-domain from them. So here it is. Natasha May Art World. :)

It's not much but it's better then before. And it took me ages to find instructions and tutorials to modify things. Like the background photo and "recent articles". And don't get me started on the recent photos app.

I wanted a widget that would take my FB photos and display it as a gallery or preferably a slide show. But you know in a nice way, like maybe 4 big ones and the rest smaller below or hidden but all I could find are the ones that display every single photo. So I ended up using a FB photo badge which I don't really like but it's the closest I could find. Talking about complicating stuff. :)

Enough about that. :) Today I'm showing you a Chinese Goddess Kuan Yin for 13 Goddesses challenge.

She is a virgin goddess of Unconditional Love, Compassion and Mercy. She is regarded by many as the protector of women and children. She is also a grantor of wishes, and in particular, a fertility goddess capable of granting children. She is the champion of the unfortunate, the sick, the disabled, the poor, and those in trouble. She is the most beloved of the Chinese goddesses.

# 29 Angels in my Studio

I stumbled upon a debate yesterday about pretty faces that are dominating the Blogland as of late vs. ugly soulful faces and their lack of.

I had this post written addressing this issue but I deleted it. :) I'm just thankful my life is drama free and grateful I'm not attracting people like that. I like to focus on the positive so here is an angel for you all. :)

It's from the Angels in my Studio class, a lesson from Cheryl Irwin.

Linking to 29 Faces even though she doesn't have a face. :) She has a soul.

# 28 The Vampire

Stacy, from MagicLoveCrow is having a giveaway over at The Butterfly Effect.  She chose the theme of Vampires so this Dracula emerged in my art journal. :)

Today's randomness:
  • My mom and I hosted this gathering for a creative group of women on Saturday. Oh, wait! There was one man, too. :) It was really fun but clean up is a bitch. I wish I've taken photos but I couldn't show it to you anyway because some of them or most don't like having photos of them on the internet.
  • I'm still trying to figure out how to get my money from the PayPal account. They want Visa I only have Mastercard and they won't take other people's Visa it has to be in your name.
  • I love meditating.
  • I'm going strong on the gluten free diet. It sucks that so many sweets have gluten in them.
  • I caved and bought washi tape. I had to order it online so I'm not sure it's worth the money.
  • I messed up on Friday's post telling you you only have 4 days left to think about signing up for my Cotton Candy Girls class before I close the registration on the May 31st. It was 6 days. :) Now it's only 3. :)
  • Ok, Facebook, right. :) If a woman posts something all the women go: "gorgeous", "wonderful", "stunning" "♥" etc. A guy posts something and all the guys go: "this is sick, man" and "so dope, dude". :)) All positive comments of course. :)

# 27 Hello from England

Dear Mrs. Tiggy,

I'm so sorry for not sending you a postcard from Ghana. You've must have been worried sick. What happened was, I forgot to mail it. It's only when I came back to England that I found it in my suitcase.

Anyway, it is nice to be home and I'm enjoying every minute. From all the cuisines in the world that I had a pleasure to taste, nothing compares to my mother's cooking. :)

xoxo Mr. Black

P.S. I had a great day yesterday with the women at the gathering and I was too tired to do the back of the card.
P.P.S That is a member of a Queen's Guard on the postcard.

# 26 Other Self

I was getting really anxious yesterday when I remembered I needed to do a face for today's blog post. You know, when you commit yourself to doing something for a period of time, you're bound to get to the point where you start to resent it.
So, I wasn't really feeling it. But then I remembered I sketched some beings in my art journal earlier in the day, so I came back to them and painted them.
But it felt wrong to paint them in skin tone colors. And these little aliens evolved. I'm calling them other selves.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone! :) I'm having a gathering today and I might tell you about it tomorrow. :)

# 25 Winner and Soul Sisters

First, let's get the winner of last week's giveaway out of the way. :) Thanks so much to everyone who entered but there can be only one winner.
Congrats to Jenny!
E-mail me your snail address and I'll send the angel your way. :)
And now I have another surprise for my  Cotton Candy Girls class. I made another bonus video!

That makes it two so far. :) You are actually getting 7 weeks worth of material for the price of 5 weeks. And my class is dirt cheap. So go on and sign up! Registration will be open until end of May, that gives you 4 days to think about it. :)

The painting is actually nicer in real life. The hair is 3D and the scanner made everything else a little foggy.

# 24 Blind Drawings

So, I entered a swap where you had to close your eyes and draw a cat. This was fun! :) You should all try it. You can draw whatever. There are two other swaps which I didn't enter but their theme were blind drawings of mice and cupcakes. Really fun!

I did blind drawings of faces, too. But I'm waiting for Cam to put the linky up. :) What are you waiting for? :))

#23 Face and Goddess # 12

This week's pick for 13 Goddesses challenge is from Australian or Polynesian culture. I chose Hawaiian Goddess Pele. She is the goddess of fire, lightning, wind, and volcanoes known as the Earth-Eating Woman and also as She-Who-Shapes-The-Sacred-Land.

According to Hawaiian historian David Malo in his book "Hawaiian Antiquities," in old Hawai'i, some gods and goddesses, including Pele, were believed to be akua noho, gods who talked. They could take possession of an earthly being, who became the god's kahu.

Malo writes, "The kahu of the Pele deities also were in the habit of dressing their hair in such a way as to make it stand out at great length, then, having inflamed and reddened their eyes, they went about begging for any articles they took a fancy to, making the threat, 'If you don't grant this request, Pele will devour you.' Many people were imposed upon in this manner, fearing Pele might actually consume them."

# 22 Sweet

Hey guys! You are really funny! :) Lol! You cracked me up with yesterday's comments. :)

So, this post has nothing to do with the painting. :)) I have nothing to say about it except that they are sweet.

Just now while I was sitting here at the computer figuring out what to say to you, my dog came over and hit me in the face. WTF? But she did give me something to write about. So there. :)
Ok, don't get me wrong. She is a sweetheart. Don't go around saying I'm being abused by my dog. Lol!

She gets very excited by pretty much everything and then she starts jumping. And if she can reach you, she can slap you. :))

Do you have crazy pets, too? Or kids? Tell me stories about them. :)

# 21 Bunny?

I might be stretching it with today's face for 29 Faces challenge. :)

A while ago Amy and I traded hand carved stamps. And this is one of the prints I made with her stamp. Originally she has bear ears, I think, but I made her into a bunny. :) She looks cute, doesn't she?

Ok, I know you're here for the random stuff, so here we go. :)
  • This weekend was a little off because my hubby celebrated his birthday and we had people over so that meant less time to art.
  • I think this was the first time in my life that I didn't eat cake. Seriously! Whoever knows me, knows I cannot resist a cake. I bring presents to your birthday party for a sole reason to get a piece of cake. :) Unfortunately, I have decided to eat gluten free a month or so ago, so that meant no cake for me.
  • Oh, and I tripped over this thing walking backwards when I was helping my hubby carry something and my ass still hurts. But I'm glad that's all it is because it could be so much worse if the glass shattered on top of me. Of course he is to blame for my pain in the butt. And I made it known to him. :)
  • I recently started to meditate. I like guided meditation because it's easier for me to focus and not drift away with my thoughts. I tend to cry when I meditate and I need to figure out what it means.
  • My giveaway is HERE. I will draw the winner on Friday, May 25, 2012.
  • So, what's up with you? Tell me something funny. :)

# 20 What happened?

Today is Sunday and if you have been following my blog for a while, you might be wondering why there is no postcard from Mr. Black to Mrs. Tiggy. What happened?

Was Mr. Black kidnapped by pirates or shipwrecked? Was he injured or is he angry with Mrs. Tiggy? Did he not find a single souvenir shop where he could buy a postcard or did the postcard get lost in the mail?

I have no idea. We'll have to see what happens next week. :) In the meantime. Here are some ATC's I made for a swap of unnaturally colored faces. Do they count for 4 days of 29 Faces? :))
