Books and Fairy Tales

Wow! People seriously!!

Why didn't anyone tell me to get Kindle for PC's from Amazon? They have FREE Kindle books. Like FREE! Like LOTS of them.

You might not see me for a while because of that. I had to stop myself from downloading every single book. :)))

No, I did filter them. Some are just short stories like 30-60 pages. Those are not worth reading. And they did have to have a catchy title and intriguing book cover.

I know. I know. Don't judge the book by its covers but you have to start somewhere. :)

This is actually a great way to find out if you want to bother with the whole series. They are usually volume 1 of the series and then you can figure out if you want to buy the rest. But not even that. If you're patient they might have a promo sale or even let you have them for free.

I did see somewhere that some books are free on Fridays. Different books each Friday. I just can't remember where I saw that.

Can you tell from which Fairy tales are the ATC's above? :) Can you believe tomorrow is September??

In need of angels

I'm going to be quick today as I'm taking my Gangsta cat Charlie back to the vet this morning. Stuff just keeps oozing out of him.

I hope they'll do more for him this time around. Last week all they did was clean his wound and told us to do the same. Well, it's not working.

It's not just a splotch here and there. Yesterday he literally dripped out of his wound as he was standing. And it's not blood but that other red stuff. I don't know the word for it in my language let alone in English. :)

Ok, I selected another winner for Frida and it's Donna. Yay! :))
Please e-mail me with your snail address. :)

Magic Girls

Hello cupcakes! :)
I have random stuff for you today.
  • First off, I need to tell you that I woke up Tuesday morning with vertigo and have been dizzy ever since. I got some pills from my doctor to help with this vertigo and guess what the side effects are. Go ahead, guess! It's vertigo. Go figure!:) I'm better now, although still dizzy I can at least sit and walk around without getting nauseated. The first two days all I did was lie on my couch.
  • I sold Pure Love! Thank you! :)) Pure Bliss is still available along with others. :)
  • I'm on an ATC trading frenzy. :) I made 37 cards in a single week. And I have many more to draw but this vertigo thing set me back for a couple of days.
  • Also, did you hear about Cameron's Mermaid swap? You send her a mermaid between August 27th to September 21st 2012 and she'll send you one back. She's an awesome artist so you should check her out. :)
  • The three ATC's above are Magic Girls. I had to Google them but you might know of them. I'm really not into these Japanese characters and games. It's like I'm in a different world when people start naming them. :))

Ok, now the winner of My Memories Giveaway is
I chose randomly but I'm too dizzy to give you photo proof. :) Get in touch with me and I'll let you know how to go about downloading the software.

And because you're all so fab, I have a 10$ discount code for My Memories Suite V3 for you to use at the checkout: STMMMS50712 in case you didn't win. :)

P.S. I just spent 5 minutes typing the freaking word verification and I still couldn't get it right. I'm pissed off right now! :)) So, if I didn't return the comment, it's because of your captcha. Please give my dizzy head a rest and turn it off. Thank you! :))

No Fairies and Sex but Merfolk instead

First off, I need to clarify something.

On Friday's Giveaway post I showed you a journal page I made using papers from My Memories Suite V3. You can still enter the giveaway. :)

I need to clarify something since many of you failed to catch the part where I said: "I printed out their background paper and used it as "paint" for the entire painting except the face."

The journal page I made is handmade not digital. So don't be impressed with my digital skills because I have none. :)) I just wanted to show another way to use the software, if you're not into digital or scrapbooking.

Ok, moving on.

I wanted to make something for this week's The Butterfly Effect theme which is  Fairies and Sex but I was busy making ATC's so here is Merfolk I've been doing for the past month or so.
I organized a Merfolk swap at ATC's For All forum and made a card for each participant. There are more but I don't think I'll get to show you all of them. These are the pretty bunch. :)

P.S. Frida from the giveaway went unclaimed. I'll wait until the end of week, then pick another winner.

My Memories Software Giveaway

Winner is Carol

I have an exciting giveaway for you today. :) I've been approached a couple of weeks ago to review this digital scrap booking software by My Memories . And because they are so awesome, they offered the entire My Memories Suite V3 download for FREE for one lucky giveaway winner. :)

This is their original blurb:
"With over 1,500 papers, over 1,000 page elements, and over 30 album templates (including 10 new for v3), MyMemories Suite lets you hit the ground running with your very own scrapbook or photo album in a matter of minutes. It’s easy-to-use and affordable—and compatible with both Windows and Mac computers. "
"All you need is trust and a little pixie dust." ~  Peter Pan

You all know I'm no scrapbooker, so I made this journal page instead. I printed out their background paper and used it as "paint" for the entire painting except the face. It has 6 main designs (checks, decorative, dots, houndstooth, plaids and stripes) with various design sizes and multitude of colors making together over 1.500 papers.

And I really liked their textures. There are burlap, corrugated and stone textures that come in 6 different colors. There are so many embellishments I can't even begin to name them all but among buttons, brads, flowers, knots, ribbons, stitching and so on, my fave are Scroll Flourishes as you can see I used them for the hair.

And because you're all so fab, I have a 10$ discount code for My Memories Suite V3 for you to use at the checkout: STMMMS50712 in case you don't win. :)

Now for the giveaway rules:
  • Just leave a comment. If you want, you can visit their site then come back here and let me know in the comments what is your favorite digital paper pack or layout from their shop for an extra entry
  • Make sure there is a way to contact you in case you win
  • The winner will be chosen randomly a week from now on Friday, 24th August, 2012

Frida and 400th and a giveaway

winner is Neet Donna
ATC size 2,5"x3,5"
"Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?"
~ Frida Kahlo
Guess what?! This is my 400th blog post. :)
The Butterfly Effect has the theme of Frida for this week. So I made this ATC and combined the two events and made this into a giveaway. :)

If you want this ATC of Frida, holla in the comments. You have to say you want it or I won't count you in. I don't want to send you something you don't want.

You have time until Friday and I have another surprise for you then, too. :)

Pure love

You've seen her sister Pure Bliss last Friday, now let me introduce Pure Love. :) It's approx. 5.5"x8" or 14x20 cm in size, acrylics and other stuff on 280 g/m2 watercolor paper.

It's yours for 30$ including shipping anywhere in the world. If you want it, let me know and I'll send you a PayPal invoice. :)

Because I feel so darn poetic today, I give you my randomness. :)
  • I have finally found my solution to PayPal problem. If you remember, I have had virtual money that I couldn't get transferred to my account but now I can. :) Yay!
  • I'm still amazed at how cunning companies are. I have a multifunctional thingy that prints, scans and makes copies but if you run out of ink, you're fu*ked. One would assume that only the printer doesn't work but the scanner shuts down as well. I had to buy 70€ worth of cartridges so I can scan my ATC's. How ridiculous is that! :) Ok, I might print a page or two as well but still why are they making me buy cartridges when all I want to do is scan?
  • Remember my gangsta cat Charlie? We had a situation with him on Friday evening. This shit always happens at nights and on weekends, go figure. I found a puddle of blood on the floor and we traced it to him. I wasn't really sure at which end it came out because he was bloody on both ends so we packed him up and took him to the vet. After the tests the diagnosis was urinary tract infection. Now, I have had cats with urinary infection before and it was nothing like this. This literally happened in a course of an hour and it really freaked me out. The thing is while testing his blood they came upon an unusually high number of some enzyme in his liver and we were scheduled for an ultrasound on Tuesday. We ended up taking him back on Monday because he wasn't eating and his skin on the belly was really red. Ok, to make this short, it looks like he got hurt somehow (how it happened is beyond me) and he had to be operated on. He's doing fine now.:)
He's all white, that orange stuff is from disinfectant
  • Some of you wanted to see my picture with short hair. Well, it ain't gonna happen. :)) See, I know we all have a picture of ourselves in our head and mostly it's embellished, right? But for me it's downright ridiculous. What I see in a mirror and what I see in a photo are two different people. For real! And it's not pretty. I must be the most non-photogenic person alive. I'm telling you. I took a photo of myself in a mirror. I was sure that what I was looking at in the mirror would be exactly the same as what would be on photo. Not true. It has come thus far I have started to question my eye site. The second option is that I'm delusional. It's either I need glasses, a shrink or a new camera. :))
  • Are you checking your SPAM folders, people? Sometimes stuff lands there that's not supposed to. I, myself, cannot not check my spam folder. I'm freaked at spamming other people's e-mails so I delete spam as soon as I see it even if it's in a spam folder. That's how I know that stuff ends up there that's not supposed to. So check it out from time to time so you won't look like you're rude for not answering e-mails. :)

Drawing with my non-dominant hand

This week it's my choice of the theme over at The Butterfly Effect and I chose for everyone to make stuff with their non-dominant hand. I of course had a go at drawing with my non-dominant hand. :)
As you can see, my girls ended up looking pretty pissed off. :)) I thought my lines will get better with exercise but no such luck.
So I cheated with the boy and drew him with my right hand in pencil first then went over it with my left hand in pen. He still looks shaken but not as pissed off as the girls. :)) I painted them with my dominant hand though.

I'm also having a giveaway at The Butterfly Effect, so if you decide to play along and link over there, you have a chance of winning one of my ATC's. :)
