I love painting on book pages as I love seeing the text through the paint. I love rainbow colors as you've probably noticed. :) I love my pretty girls and I love fairies. :) See how much love there is in this piece?? :))
Another thing that I love is recycling. You may or may not know, April 22 is Earth Day. Earth Day is a day on which events are held worldwide to increase awareness and appreciation of the Earth's natural environment. And like with so many other "dedicated days" this one, too, should be celebrated all 365 days.
I came about this blog post from Polly at Pagan by Design who has dedicated 13 weeks to Earth Lovin' Activities and Inspiration as she puts it. :) And as I was writing my comment to her I realized I'm doing pretty good on the recycling stuff. :)
Recycling is a second nature to me so I rarely pat my back for doing it. But we all should from time to time. I know the earth is a mess because of us anyway and some might say that recycling is our duty per se but so many don't give a shit and the rest of us who do, should feel some pride in it and give ourselves some recognition in doing good.
So, why don't we all make a list of stuff we're doing for preserving our environment already and what little things we could do to even further that. It would be great to get some tips and tricks from all of you. Even regarding art as we mainly are art people here. :)
I'll be back on Sunday, April 22 to share my list. :) If you want, you can join me.
I leave you with this quote:
“I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues…Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

ReplyDeleteI think I'm doing my part of recycling--I rescue a LOT of things--I hate the thought of them being here for a reason and then being trashed without a thought--they all have a history which is my favorite part--I have to ease up though.....

Love your fairy! She's just fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI am a fanatic recycler and composter, and throw away a tiny fraction of what my neighbors do on trash day. But come recycle day, I am rolling two huge overflowing bins to the street. It's so easy for us here that it enrages me when I see so much being thrown away, or used wastefully.
She is so adorable!!! Love all the words peaking through the painting :0)
ReplyDeleteI like painting, drawing on books too. How do you stop the paper curling?

ReplyDeleteI love your Fairy. Plan to take the workshop..
ReplyDeleteYour fairy girl is particularly pretty and perky in pink! I recylce my earlier or failed paintings by painting over them even without gesso. i let some of the old painting colors show through. And of course the texture of the dried paint adds depth. With canvas sheets that are used for studies from master artists, i cut them up in pieces to be used as ACEO. Really cool backgrounds, etc.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!! Loved the colours and yes. Earth day is so important, if only each person realised it and did ones part. Currently I am working on the same issue as well. This Saturday we even have an exhibit on "Save Our Planet".
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing:)
Beautiful! I really like how it's on the book page... it gives it some mystery. Thanks for sharing with AIB.
