Although in modern culture they are often depicted as young, sometimes winged, humanoids of small stature, they originally were depicted quite differently: tall, radiant, angelic beings or short, wizened trolls being two of the commonly mentioned forms.

Let me introduce you to the Pixie High School Girls. They are the "Popular" Girls. :) You know what that means, right? They are the ones responsible for all the mischief and malice that's happening in the Pixie Town. Tangling the hair of sleepers into "Elf-locks", stealing small items and leading travelers astray.
If this behavior continues, the Principle Pixie will be forced to intervene because she prides herself in schooling young souls into good fairies. But the road these girls have taken is bordering on the evil side. Soon enough they'll be kidnapping humans, seducing innocent lovers and making humans dance until they die of exhaustion.
These girls better shape up quick because Principle Pixie rules with cold iron. And she's giving out names. That is as close to a prison as a fairy can get because once humans know a fairy's name they could summon her to them and force her to do their bidding.
