Life Book's First Lesson.
I'm finally sharing it with you even though I painted it last week. I used the small moleskine which doesn't have the right paper and what happened is that the paper started pealing off when I was brayering the paint on. Now I know I need to wait for layers to dry or collage something underneath.
And it's funny how I'm not really fond of water-soluble oil pastels. I love them when I'm doing the book page portraits but not so much in an art journal. So I added some of my india ink pens and here she is now.
Linking to Paint Party Friday.

I like the india ink version, too....a bit more "soulful"...it sets a mood a bit better, I'd say.

Ooh, yes, adding the shadow and detail with ink really gave her so much gravity and depth...sort of like that Spiderman motto, With great power comes great responsibility.
ReplyDeleteYes, that happens sometime, but she turned out beautiful. Have a happy & creative week!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the watersoluble pastels. I don't work well with them either. Your journal page is lovely. You can chalk it up to sometime mistakes teach us a lesson. And look how beautiful your finished piece is. Happy PPF!
