Journal page

While I was painting the big canvas I was wiping the brush in my journal. This is what came out. Hope you like. :) It was Flora Bowley inspired but I don't think it resembles her style at all.

It's about time I get my ass back to painting, don't you think? Like the one I showed on Wednesday. I had my first interview a couple of days ago and I had to pick some pictures to go along. Well, I checked my blog for the past two months and all that's there are ATC's and inspired by famous paintings. Nothing that I can say, this is my painting, this is my style. It got me worried that I might have side tracked a bit. I mean this is all fun but if I plan to make this my carrier I need stuff to show and sell. And I can't sell ATC's and interpretations of famous paintings. I need to have fun on a bigger scale and preferably on canvas. :)

I'm linking to The Butterfly Effect and PPF. Head on over there to see other artist's creations.

  2. Hey, all creating counts....plus, if you call them ACEO's, you can totally sell them! Lots of people collect them :)

We do tend to switch gears to the opposite of what we've been doing, don't we? Completely normal to feel this way! Your journal pages are so lively and pretty :D

  4. it's so funny you saying you need more of a portfolio because i've been saying exactly the same thing. i am itching to do more large canvasses and discover my oil style as twisty towns are great for fairs but i need something i could exhibit if i ever got the chance. pointy pics are my 'thing' but take such a long time to complete even small ones. i personally think you could do well because your work is wonderful-i love your paintings on wood especially. here's to bigger. better art for both of us!

  7. What's great about you Natasha is that you can do lots of different things - this little diversion is healthy and good for you.

Great layering in these journal pieces. I am so addicted to layers. I love getting up real close to a painting and peering through the layers.

    Keep up the good work!!

We should trade sometime for sure. I like your journal page...very interesting. Happy PPF~ thanks for stopping by to visit me too. :-)

  14. What a great way to paint in your journal, I love it.

how did your interview go? I was wondering what kind of position you were applying for in showing your artwork. I hope it turned out well for you.

Nothing makes a statement "I'm an artist" like a big canvas... go for it!

    happy ppf!

  16. Make that journal page again on a large canvas, I'll bet it will be fantastic!! At the moment I am in love with my journal again, and it is wonderful to just paint and have fun and filling up that journal. But I can understand what you're saying ;-) Looking forward to your bigger canvasses!

  20. I love it!

And don't worry. Though you may feel sidetracked, it's all helping you to get to the next part of your journey. Playing is necessary and art should be fun and we all need a break every once in a while.

    Happy PPF!

  21. It's ok to get a little sidetracked occasionally. And there is always a chance that something you've done in your journal will inspire a canvas painting!

  32. The most important thing is to keep producing- then when you figure out where you want that career of yours to go, your art will be waiting for you!

  33. beautiful pages! I always try to wipe my extra paint onto something I can use later. Sometimes I end up liking the second project better than the first! Thanks for the tip on Flora Bowley - I wasn't familiar with her work, but boy is it inspiring! (and I agree that your "inspired" pages look like your own which is exactly as it should be)

  34. Nathalie is participating in a challenge to move Out of the Art Journal (or similar) and finish 2 paintings/week. It sure seems to be working for her - helping her to focus on bigger pieces. I'm too new at the whole art thing to offer any suggestions myself, big canvases totally intimidate me! I just attempted my first 12x16 canvas this week and show it for PPF with a little trepidation.... Best of luck as you move toward making what I'm sure will be a wonderful portfolio!

  38. This is a fantastic journal page, I really love your colours and design!! Different to what you've been doing lately. I still love your ATC's I think they are fantastic. I think all kinds of creating is good for you. I'm finding that ATC size is good for trying out new things as it's a small scale etc. I love everything you do!!! :0) Oh and I just had a look at the canvas you were working on, looks fantastic too!!! Really different!!! Love it!
