Summer of Color's first promt was BLUE. And here is my first ATC for this summer. :)
It's mixed media on a poker playing card. :)) Backround is spray painted then the girl is collaged basically because I couldn't see pencil lines on the background and then I added trees with acylics. All very blue. :)
What I have learned is that spray paint does not stick to a glossy poker card. So this ATC was ruined after the whole layer of paint peeled off like a glove. From now on I'm glueing paper on first. So far it's still sticking to the card. :) I have to try if gesso will work though.
Have a lovely Monday! :)

Good to know...though, this turned out great despite the challenge of peeling paint :)
ReplyDeleteI love the subtle shadows of the trees on the grass!
this is so cute...love your girl...xxx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! If you want to gesso your cards, use some sandpaper first, and you'll be fine!
ReplyDeleteWe learn by our mistakes, but sometimes those mistakes turn out for the best! I think gesso will work.
ReplyDeleteThis ended up gorgeous anyway :)
Love your blue, this week we are all going blue!
ReplyDeleteit's lovely!! :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, I like the way the trees are blowing also. Blustery day!

Love your 'blue' girl, her eyes are stunning :)
ReplyDeleteShame about the paint not sticking but has they say....You have to make mistakes to learn the lessons, that's how we grow :)
Looking forward to seeing more of your colour creations! ;)

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful ATC! I LOVE her - her lips, her flowing hair and that dress is perfect - wonderful background too - I really like the little bit of card showing from your new peeling paint technique ;) Thank you for this beautiful inspiration, xo

ReplyDeleteBeautiful Natasha!! I wonder what I will be creating, still!
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that you had the problem with the paint Natasha but your atc is beautiful all the same.

I always love what you come up with, and your style is so distinctive--your girls are always so fun!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of her, the pose and her alluring blue self~ Well Done~
ReplyDeleteNatasha...your paintings are so lovely!
ReplyDeleteSimply lovely!
ReplyDeleteso so cute...I confirm to you with gesso, it will be ok...I have made a lot of ATC on playcard and had the same problem me too...I sometimes use a cardstock glue over it or gesso...2 coats better if you gesso is too liquid...but I prefer finally to glue a cardstock...more possiblilties...
ReplyDeleteI think it turned out wonderful..love her expression!
ReplyDeleteSo delightful and charming!
ReplyDeleteAw, this is so cute! It's a shame it was ruined. I've used gesso on the cards with success, but I usually just cut some heavy paper like watercolor paper or cardstock to card size. It's easier.
ReplyDeletelovely!
ReplyDeleteoh, stupid spray paint! I hate what junk like that happens :(
ReplyDeletemaybe sand and gesso it first, rather than paper?
i love the faces you create.
so pretty.
xx,
amy
