I have wood prepped for painting. It's cut 20x30 cm (let's say it's 8x12 inches) and gessoed twice. And yes, I'm still using this wee little table. Somehow buying a bigger work desk is not my priority. But it should be.
My parents are moving within a month and are getting new furniture for the apartment. Maybe I should tag along and throw the desk in the shopping cart while they're looking for a sofa or something. :) Of course I'll disappear just before we hit the cash register. My parents are great like that. :)))
And if you come back on Friday, I'll show you the first finished painting on one of these wood thingies. Are they called a wood panel? Cause panel suggests a thin panel of wood to me. This one is 2 cm thick. I don't know how much that is in inches.
I mentioned some time ago that I want to do some paintings inspired by famous paintings. Not artists per say but the paintings themselves. You know. Like Mona Lisa and stuff. :) Only I won't be doing Mona Lisa but other stuff. So come check it out on Friday. :)
For now go check on WOYWW. :)

Great post - now I will have to pop back and see your painted panels.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it matters how big your desk is, we all end up, ultimately, crafting in a space the size of the piece we're working on! Those wood panels look intriguing - I will have to try and remember to come back on Friday!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by....
Roll on Friday (that means hurry up Friday) when we can see what you produce on your panel.
ReplyDeleteLucky you with such nice parents, treasure them. Hugs, Neet
Ooh, I can't wait for Friday!
ReplyDeleteI would call those wooden blocks.
I'd love a huge workspace so I can spread everything out - a big studio with great light and cupboards and drawers and a huge wall to hang canvasses on....
Jaa, jaz bi tudi na takele lesene ploščice kaj delala.. mah, pa tudi na papir ali platno zadnje čase ne :)
ReplyDeleteAmpak bom.. res bom.. čez par tednov. Do takrat pa bom čisto zadovoljna z obiskovanjem tujih blogov. Oz. nekaj časa še to ne, ko bom na morju :)
Definately intreagued! Looks like you have a great project on your hands! Thanks for sharing your workspace today! -Amanda (scrappnbee) #41

ps, my daughter got a sofa bed out of me for her new apartment in a similar way, of cousre I knew that I would be buying it for her before we got into the store! Parents never mind, in fact I think we like it! x
I love painting on wood - it is so forgiving,
ReplyDeleteon tuesday i used pastel chalks onto textured paper and was getting hugely frustrated that my work was taking longer and I had to work harder!!! the proportions just kept going skwiffy
it's an expressive impressionist piece so it isn't as if its a difficult style...
can wait to see your mona lisa
so much more work to do realism style brave you,
Have Fun,
Dx
Love wood.. can hardly wait to see what you do with it.. hope that you get that new desk..lol...
ReplyDeleteLol, your parents sound great!! But it looks like you're coping just fine on your small desk too. Look forward to seeing how the wood canvas turns out.
