Illuminated

I am not a religious person but I am a spiritual one. I do not believe in God but I do believe in a bigger picture.

I named this painting Illuminated because she brought some insight into my soul while I painted her. She started out as nothing special and I even disliked her for a while but she blossomed into this beauty that just so happened ended up with a halo around her.
I wondered for a while why the halo but it came clear to me after a couple of days just looking at her. She is an expression of my inner growth. She doesn’t only express my feelings that were stirring inside me while I painted her but my actions and revelations surrounding me in that week of my life.

I strongly believe that we knowingly or unknowingly attract things, actions and people into our lives. We attract them because our soul is telling us we are ready for them even though our mind might not agree at that very moment.

I found a blog of an artist, a prodigy child Akiana. I mentioned her on twitter and FB fan page before. Now, I won’t get into what she's all about cause you can read about her on her blog and decide for yourself. What strikes me is her way of expression and her insight into this world. I think I invited her into my life at just the right time. :)

Don't forget to enter my giveaway! :) And go check out other lovely artists participating in this week's PPF. :) Have a fabulous weekend!

Wow, you certainly have quite a bunch of cuddly friends...lol! I must show M ( my daughter ) your site, you remind me of her....she too keeps all their birth dates and dates of their passing. Lovely to meet and your painting is a just gorgeous, glad you continued with her, a vision of loveliness.

  14. She is beautiful and you are right, we attract everything into our life! Many times we hold good things away because we are too negativly focused; "You get what you think about, whether you want it or not!"

  32. Lovely post. I like her eyes. Funny. but speaking of the spiritual, you must see my painting this week. Your's reminds me very much of mine. I called her spirit woman because I just started painting her in all different skintone colors. When I finished she seemed to glow. It reminded me of the yogi's in India.

  34. What a vibrant and lovely painting! I think you're right...sometimes your inner thoughts and self come out through your paintings, before you even realize it or are ready to deal with it. Its amazing how you can work through so many things with the brush. And discover yourself there too :)
