Pink Lily

Isn´t she cute?! :) I´m taking another on-line class this time with uber talented Wyanne. :) She does some amazing techniques and I love them all. This is my first try which I messed up from the beginning. In early stages I mixed up my water and alcohol spray bottle and I was spraying my ass off with alcohol instead of water so I had to wash the board and then paint it white so I could start over. Wyanne makes it look so easy but things just didn´t come out the way they supposed to. I tried to do hair Wyanne style but didn´t work out. Anyway, I´m happy with my little Pink Lily. :) Even though it looks like her head is too small for her body. :) Artistic expression, ok?! :)

Lesson 3

We are already at lesson 3 at Layer Love on-line class. I wasn´t sure about this one. It looked too complicated but when I started to paint I loved it. It was a bit of a drag since you have to wait a lot for layers to dry but it was worth it. I don´t have any musical notes so I printed them out from the internet and I also used some old stamps. Luckily I used to collect them so there is bunch of them laying around. :) I like how it came out, I´m already thinking about what I am going to do with it. :)

Little Red Riding Hood

This is what I have done with my first layer love background. It´s very hard to take a picture of it but this is the best I could do. I added a Little Red Riding Hood and collaged a tree next to her. I kept going back to her because I messed up her face and her outfit was too much like the background. I needed to shabby her up.:) I stenciled in a couple of "wolves" too.

Ocean deep

Lesson two at Julie Prichard´s school. :) We added some collage this time and I see now that I forgot to add some black at the bottom. I had some trouble with this backgrund because I used some colors that I thought were transparent acrylics but when I went over them with Glazing Medium or washes the paint started peeling off in kind of a rubbery way. It was annoying and I think I got a couple of gray hairs. :) Anyway those green patches were supposed to be more blended in but I couldn´t do it without peeling off the underneath layer. I´ll fix it when I get to work on a final thing. Next time I´ll show you what I am doing with the red background from Lesson One.

Diary 2010 project

I found this Diary 2010 project that is running for the third year. It is designed by different artist around the world. Each artist gets to design one page and then everything is put together in a diary by Fantazya. If you want to participate, you´ll need to reserve a page via e-mail that you find on her site.

Background red

I´m taking Julie Prichards Layer Love On-line class and this is our first lesson. I´m loving all the mess and I can´t keep my hands clean because I keep blending colors with my fingures. :) Love it! Can´t wait for the next lesson.

I´m done

Here it is, the final Happy Couple. :) Well, I think this is it. I have all these pictures in my art room and I keep looking at them and adding something to them almost every day. :) So they keep changing. And this might not be the final final painting but it´s the last you´ll get to see. :)

I added some words because it all seemed a bit empty and that solid black was just screaming for some words. I kinnda had my husband and me in mind when I started with this painting and we just got married so the words represent our union. The colors are much better now than they were before, right? Much brighter and happier. :)

Happy Couple in progress

I´m still working on my Happy Couple. I wasn´t liking the colors so I changed them. I stamped with pink ink first but when I added color, pink changed into red and it gave me orange tones that I didn´ t like.

I went shopping for some pink and blue and this is what came out. Now the background here was too strong, the Couple looked like they were just placed on top and were not a part of the picture.

So I stamped some words with white acrylic paint and added Kiss Me above the girls head. I´m not done yet because it all looks a bit too opaque and I´m still adding stuff to it. :) I´ll be back with finale soon. :)

What Have I Done?

This Happy Couple painting was one of the first two that I did in Suzi Blu class. You can tell I was way too excited to use everything so it came out a bit too dark. I wasn´t happy with it soooo.....
.... I did this ---->

Queen Bee

My Queen Bee
This is my third painting Suzi Blu style. I actually got an idea of a bee from PolonaP. I saw her drawing in person and I loved it. This Queen Bee is my interpretation but I made some changes in the process. I put a dress on her and and a crown and I used a crackle technique on her wings.

Little birdie told me

Something I´m working on... I had an idea early in the morning before I even got out of bed and luckily I had all the stuff at home. Yes, I even dream at night about ideas to work on. :)
I sketched a petit doll yesterday at 1 AM. I couldn´t sleep because of the music from the concert that was near by and I was somehow thinking of strawberries. :) But I´ll tell you about her some other time.:)
I´m taking photos every step of the way so I can show you later the progress of the painting. Maybe I´ll put it in a video or a slide show. We´ll see if I know how to. :)

I call her Yellow

You might recognize her face. She is the first one in the second row in the picture in the post below. I can call her my first Les Petit Dolls mixed media painting but really I was doing two paintings at a time. :) I know, I´m a bit impatient so I had to do something while the paint was drying. :) I like her even though the background should be lighter but I love all that shabbiness.

This is where she "began". The drawing. I didn´t name her here yet, that came later with the color choice. The colors on her face are much more vibrant here. I didn´t know that Matte Medium would dry a bit white-ish and dull the colors. I´ll be more careful in the future.

Pretty face Yellow. :) I mixed green with silver to get that metallic green for her eyes. It makes them stand out much more.

This detail on her dress is an actual tattoo rub on that kids put on their arms. :) You can also see all those cuts I made.

All she needs now is a coat of wax. Thats coming as soon as I can get a quilting iron on ebay and some wax.

Angel Faces

These are some of my first Les Petit Dolls faces. They are colored with Prismacolor pencils. As you can see I haven´t yet mastered the dolls face. Each comes out different and I cannot duplicate a face for the life of me. :) But I´ll learn, don´t worry. I´ll come up with the NatashaMay doll face. :)

Welcome to my Art World

Hi everyone! I´m starting a new blog about my art journey. I already have a blog where I post my greeting cards so do check it out. http://bolhin-svet.blogspot.com/
So where did it all start? I found Suzi Blu a couple of months ago on YouTube and was so inspired by her that I joined her on-line class of Les Petit Dolls. I love this style of art making and I´m kinda addicted to it right now. :)
So, I´ll be posting my art and my progress here so feel free to comment if you like what you see. :)
Thanks for stopping by.
