Another Blue Cat

WOW! It's been nearly a month since my last post. Well I've been making greeting cards instead of painting. But that's done now so back to the paint I go. Let me put you up to date. In the mean time I sold 7 of my paintings to my co-workers. :):) I'm very happy about that. :):) My first sale! :)

And this blue cat painting is one of them. I actually finished it just yesterday. I started it some time ago but never painted the head. The background is changed a bit as well. It was much more bright before, pinkish and purplish. :):) It's meant for a boy so I had to make it a bit more boyish. :)

Here she is!

Do you like her? I love her. :):)
I bought punchanella (sequin waste) some time ago and it took nearly a month to get here from the States. But I have it now and I had some fun with it. :) My favorite so far is the largest one.

The face

Here she is! :) I got a question on previous post so here is the answer. I sketched the outline of the face following the background and she turned out looking to the side. I painted the shape with white acrylic paint and thought I'll sketch the face on top of it. But I ended up drawing the face on paper first and then gluing it on top. I had to shade again because matte medium that I used to glue her down smudged and faded the lines.

Work in progress

Just playing. :) I have no idea how the face is going to look like. Lets be surprised. :)

Goddesses

Not too happy with the background but I'm showing it to you anyway. :) I'm kindda stuck at this point. I'm thinking of leaving it this way and call it a lesson learned. :) I don't know, maybe I'll get inspired later on.

More journal pages

Don't feel like writing today. Here are some journal pages that I did lately. Still trying. Don't give up on me. :)

Masking and spray paint

I bought some Tim Holtz's masks just to do this Supernova lesson. :) I used the masks that's why the paint is all over, but I like it. Stencils give a much bigger effect though. The spray paint didn't cover the background entirely and you can see some of it underneath. Do you see the drips? Love it!

Changes

Remember this one that I didn't like?

And then I turned it into this one? But it was bugging me all the time. I just couldn't bring myself to finish it. I started some layers but ended up with a mess.

I had enough and painted the whole thing over. Excuse the mess. :) I'm not very organized. I easily lose stuff that I held in my hand moments ago. Seriously! It's frustrating.
It ended up like this. The crow is a transfer. I got the image on the web somewhere.

Remember ink blots?

Remember how we used to do ink blots when we were younger? Well this Supernova lesson was sort of about that but much more. I had to help my "ink blots" a bit; they wouldn't smudge on their own. :) Well maybe because I didn't use ink but Julie didn't either and hers turned out fabulous.

And I know I told you I won't be showing you my journaling but this one is a quotation taken from somewhere on the net so it's o.k. It's not that personal. :) Can you see how I traced the circle around the blot? Nice, ha?! :)

If you are wondering, it says:

Monoprinting

Here are my promised monoprinting pages. My favorite lesson at Supernova on-line class. :) It amazes me how something so easy can give such an effect.

I tried some gut art and this is what I came up with. :) It's just an outline. I don't know if I'll leave it like this or color it in.

I see that GUT ART is something a few people know about so I'm posting a link to a great artist Mystele and you can check out what gut art is all about.

Work in progres

I'm trying out some GUT art (not pull art, sorry about that :) ). I tried it first with the monoprint journal pages and loved it. I'm showing you that next time.:)

This is my second attempt. I already sketched it. You can see the dog on the right side of the book and some tree trunks at the top of the page. And of course the lady on the left.:)

Before it looked like this:

I couldn't find anything to pull out so I changed it completely. :)

Lesson 4

Backgrounds for journal pages from lesson 4. I've done some journaling since I've taken these pictures but I don't think I'll be showing you that. I have some privacy issues. :)

Supernova Journal Pages

I mentioned some time ago that I'm taking Julie Prichard's Supernova on-line class. In part 1 Julie showed us how to make a book. I made the easiest one so far, the skinny book. :)

And in part 2 she's showing us techniques for journal pages. I'm not that good at journaling but I have the backgrounds all done. Here are a few.

I got some boxes

I made a couple of boxes Kelly Rae style. I gave away both of them so I hope the owners are enjoying them. :)

Full spread

I forgot to show you the full spread last time. :)

Pink one is done in a Moleskine sketchbook.

Blue is done in an altered book that I started some time ago but still has some pages left to work on. I worked a lot with pastels here and it was all tacky to the touch so I had to spray it with a fixative.

4th lesson

4th lesson from Suzi Blu's on-line workshop The Goddes and The Poet. She is not finished yet. I need to fix the eyes some more and do some more work below the face.
